how can you help my dog?
Private Training
The private in-home training consists of sessions in your home, dog park, pet store, and any place you feel you need help at your convenience. The sessions last an hour to an hour and a half. We discuss goals during the evaluation and a custom program is developed. We generally request every family member be present for training sessions because it helps with the consistency of training, but understand this is not always possible. The more consistent family members are with methods, the quicker the dog learns and retention is longer. Homework is given after each session and a folder is given for all of the dog’s documents. New clients also receive a training treat bag, treats and Paw It Forward Training tote.

Group Classes
Group classes are 6 or 7 weeks long, depending on the course. During the first class the program for the next several weeks will be explained along with your role in the training process. All new clients receive a folder with exercises plus training treat bag and treats. Current classes are as followed: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, CGC and Therapy Prep, and Dog Park/On the Town Manners. Other classes will be added soon.
CGC Prep Classes and Certification
Attending this six-week goal oriented class is directed towards attaining the CGC certification for your dog. Classes focus on polite greetings, basic obedience commands, interaction with other dogs and people and loose leash walking. A wonderful reward for dogs (and their owners) that have good manners at home and in the community! Click Here for CGC Information
You do not have to take the classes in order to take the certification. If you are ready, please look for evaluation dates or contact us about setting up a private exam. Please note CGC Exams are a great fundraising opportunity for rescue organization events!!
Day Training
These are intensive one-on-one training programs tailored specifically for your canine companion. At the initial private consultation with the trainer, a specific curriculum will be designed for each dog according to the needs and goals of the dog and owner. During the day, dogs will have exercise and socialization time with the trainer's dogs at the trainer's home. Day Training can also be done in your home while you are home or while you are away. Your dog will also receive a minimum of one hour for private one-on-one work with the trainer.
Two Week Day Training Program Includes:
- Initial one-hour private consultation / lesson with trainer. We will assess the dog’s level of obedience and tailor the training program to the specific needs and goals of the client.
- 3 training days per week for 2 weeks
- Binder to hold handouts and Daily Journal
- Training treat bag with treats plus Paw It Forward Training tote bag
- 2 half-hour “review” sessions with trainer at the end of each week. The trainer will review with the owner what was worked on during the week and the training plan for the following week. We will demonstrate to the owner how to continue the training at home. The owner must be an active participant in the plan in order to achieve success with this program!
- At completion, dog is eligible for “Refresher” training days.
Three Week Day Training Program Includes:
- All of the above in 2 week program PLUS 3 additional days of training and additional 30 minute “review” session at the end of the 3rd week.
“Refresher” Training Days
- Structure is similar to the Day Training program except dog is allowed to come for refresher work as often or as sporadically as you would like, or need.
- Prerequisite: completion of 2 or 3 week day training program
Board and Train
The Board and Train program is a minimum of two weeks, but it can definitely be extended depending on your training goals. In those two weeks, we accomplish the following: sit, stay, come, down, leave it, off, wait, and other commands if picked up on quickly. These commands will be done on-leash. (You receive a long lead/training leash at the end of the program). Off-leash commands require a longer stay (minimum 3 weeks). During the program other behaviors will also be addressed such as play biting, chewing, grabbing things, socialization, leash manners, and how to properly greet others without jumping up. A binder containing a Daily Journal along with other helpful information is given at program commencement in addition to a training treat bag and treats.
When you pick up your dog, you will be shown how to properly execute the commands and other behavioral things learned during the program. It is important to spend quality time by showing you what was learned and answering any questions. Board and Train programs also include one follow up session in your home for a 2 week program and two follow up sessions for a 3 weeks program.
